Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Pairisen collects through pairisen.com, why we collect it, who handles it for us, and the choices and rights you have. Pairisen is a shopping site for designer and luxury eyewear, based in Los Angeles, California. We don't sell products, take payments or hold stock: when you buy, you buy from the store.

What we collect

Information you give us:

• Waitlist: your email address, your city if you choose to give it, and which form on the page you used.
• Optician sign-up (on For opticians): your shop's name and address, the brands it carries, your name and email, your confirmation that you own or manage the shop, and anything optional you add, such as a phone number, a website or Instagram handle, and what the shop offers.
• Emails you send us, and whatever you choose to include in them.

Information collected automatically:

• Server logs kept by our hosting provider: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These keep the site running and secure.
• Aggregated analytics: which pages are viewed, the referring site, the country and region, and the device type, browser and operating system. See Cookies and analytics.
• Error reports: if one of our forms fails, a technical record of the error, which can include the request that caused it.

We don't collect payment details, precise location, or any sensitive personal information as defined by California law.

Cookies and analytics

pairisen.com sets no cookies of its own, and we don't use advertising trackers, social media pixels or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies. It recognizes a visit by a short-lived code calculated from the incoming request, which is discarded after 24 hours. We see only totals, never a profile of an individual visitor, and the data isn't used to track you across other websites.

Links to stores, once Pairisen opens. When you click a link from Pairisen to a store, that link may pass through an affiliate network. The network and the store can then set cookies on their own sites to record that you arrived from Pairisen, so the store can credit us if you buy. Those cookies are governed by the network's and the store's privacy policies, not this one. You can block or delete them at any time in your browser's settings, use a private window, or turn on a browser privacy setting such as Global Privacy Control. Blocking them doesn't stop you from shopping; it only means the store can't tell the visit came from Pairisen.

How we use it

• To email you when Pairisen opens, and occasionally with launch updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
• To contact opticians about a listing, and to confirm that a shop belongs to the person who submitted it.
• To decide which cities to bring independent opticians to first, using the cities people share.
• To understand which pages are useful, using aggregated analytics.
• To keep the site secure, fix errors and prevent spam and abuse of our forms.
• To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms of use.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers. They process personal information only on our instructions and only to provide their service to us:

• Vercel hosts this website and provides our analytics.
• Supabase stores waitlist sign-ups and optician submissions.
• Sentry records technical errors so we can fix them.

When we start sending waitlist emails, we'll name the email provider here before the first send.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of Pairisen or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to it.

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done either in the past 12 months.

How long we keep it

• Waitlist details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we close the waitlist, whichever comes first.
• Optician submissions: while we're working with the shop on a listing. If a shop doesn't go ahead, we delete its submission within 12 months, or sooner on request.
• Emails you send us: as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of the conversation, and no longer than three years.
• Server logs and error reports: for the short period our providers keep them, usually 30 to 90 days.
• Analytics: aggregated totals only; the visit code is discarded after 24 hours.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from any email we send, using the link in the email.
• Ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing pairisenshop@gmail.com.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information on our Do Not Sell or Share page, or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser's settings.

California privacy rights

Pairisen is based in California. We extend the rights in the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, to every visitor, whether or not the law requires it of a business our size.

Categories of personal information we've collected in the past 12 months:

We disclose these categories only to the service providers listed above, for the purposes listed above. We don't collect sensitive personal information, and we don't sell or share any category.

Your rights. You have the right to:

• Know what personal information we've collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it and whom we disclosed it to, and to get a copy of it.
• Delete personal information we've collected from you, subject to limited legal exceptions.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We don't sell or share it, but you can record an opt-out on our Do Not Sell or Share page, and it will apply to anything we do in future.
• Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We don't collect any.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

How to make a request. Email pairisenshop@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request," or use the Do Not Sell or Share page. We'll confirm we've received your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. To protect your information, we'll verify your request by confirming the email address it relates to. You can use an authorized agent; we'll ask the agent for your signed permission and may ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.

Global Privacy Control. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. The Do Not Sell or Share page shows whether your browser is sending one.

Under 16. We don't sell or share the personal information of anyone, including consumers under 16.

Other places and children

If you live in another US state with a consumer privacy law, you can make the same requests described above, and we'll handle them the same way. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our decision; we'll respond to an appeal within 60 days.

Pairisen is operated in the United States, and our service providers may store information in the United States or other countries.

Pairisen isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Security. We protect information with access controls, encryption in transit, and by keeping our databases closed to public access. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes and contact

We review this policy at least once a year. If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll email waitlist members before it takes effect.
